Murphy Research’s Beautiful New Office Space
By Amanda Allen

A few months ago, Murphy Research made the move from our office on Wilshire and Bundy to our new location on 7th St in Santa Monica. While our old office had more of a corporate setting, the new office is very modern and gives the company space to grow. It is modeled after a train station and its floor to ceiling windows allow ample natural light, which enhances the space and the extra dose of Vitamin D helps increase productivity and keep smiles on our faces. The building comes uniquely designed with, not just one, but two and a half floors. The “half” refers to a loft area we affectionately call “The Aviary” and is home to our Design team. It’s a cozy space that fits them like a glove and helps keep the creative juices flowing as they diligently work on their projects. The main floor has a great outdoor patio that works perfectly for our monthly happy hours, company breakfasts – which we prepare ourselves in our full kitchen – or just enjoy lunch out in the sun.

Speaking of sun, our great location is walking distance from both 3rd Street Promenade and the beach. There is a number of wonderful restaurants, shops, and bars for after-work socializing and events. You could meet a friend for lunch during the day or go out and grab a drink in the evening. This is especially wonderful for team bonding activities and celebrations. There’s also a post office, multiple banks, and a grocery store all within walking distance for any errands that you may need to run during your lunch hour, putting our office in an incredibly convenient location.

As if the cool building and great restaurants weren’t enough, the Expo Line is only a few blocks away! So if you have a concert or game to get to on the evening, you can jump on the train and take it all the way to Downtown. Since the extension of the Expo Line, getting from Santa Monica to the Westside has been a piece of cake! I for one, have given up driving to work and have taken up riding the train instead. Being able to come into the office fresh, unwind on the train after the work day, and not having to deal with the excessive traffic has been an incredibly positive change for me. The reduced stress levels have helped me enhance my creativity with storytelling and report design as well as increase my focus throughout the day. Also, because I take my scooter to and from the train, there is one less car on the road to add to the traffic.

Having a great office space is just one of the many benefits to working at Murphy Research. What do you think of the new location? Write your comments in the section below!
